11 Bible Verses on Eternal Perspective
I am no theologian, but to me, it’s all about how we SEE things. That's what my message in my book, SEEING Christmas is all about and what I'm trying to say here at Little Bird Press.
I’ve compiled a few of my favorite verses that help me maintain an eternal perspective. They keep my thoughts aligned with the truth of what God says about me, my loved ones and my current circumstances. My hope is that these will bless you, help you maintain an eternal perspective, and help you SEE His eternal love for YOU!
What is an eternal perspective?
I find myself, especially during the Easter season, contemplating my life and His death - the death of Jesus. This morning God provided me with the sweetest reminder; just what I needed…a little bird came for a visit right outside my window while sitting with Jesus. Read more about my sweet connection with birds. I’m always blown away by the timing of things like this.
God is SO personal.
He gives me just what I need, at just the right time.
To me, this is what the eternal perspective is all about. It’s realizing that even though our time here on earth is temporary, our relationship with Jesus starts now and goes on for eternity. So no matter what we are facing, Jesus is with us in it HERE and NOW, AND we will be with Him for eternity. He gave His life for us, then He rose again so we too can rise again with Him!
Bible verses on eternal perspective (and a few great quotes too!)
So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
That’s what I’m trying to do, and hopefully helping you do too. By seeing, experiencing, and practicing the Fruits of the Spirit, we are taking part in what’s eternal...the Kingdom of God.
If your eye is healthy your whole body is full of light. Luke 11:34
We may not necessarily need to do anything differently to have a more meaningful life, as much as we need to SEE things differently...sometimes a new perspective can change everything...praying for eyes to SEE and a life that's full of light!
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus. Hebrews 12:2
I don't know about you, but for me, it's so easy to turn my gaze somewhere else...so many people and things seem to be calling for me to focus on them and not Him...But I believe it's possible to see Jesus in ALL of life, if I can fix my eyes on Him, and the Fruits of His Spirit.
His kingdom will never end. Luke 1:33
I love being a part of a kingdom that will never end!
I wonder what it looks and feels like to Jesus when His followers connect on Sundays. I’m guessing it brings Him great JOY!
Whether you gather in a community in person or online, or choose to just be alone with Him, let’s all find JOY in the thought of our hearts and voices joining to worship King Jesus.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
God’s Kingdom can be on earth as it is in heaven.
To me that looks like everyone slowing down to see, experience and practice LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS and SELF-CONTROL
I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Joel 2:28
I'm SO looking forward to this! Won’t it be something?!
It will be a day when all people are seeing, experiencing and practicing the fruits of HIS Holy Spirit! This verse encourages us to keep that eternal perspective and cling to this promise.
To them, God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27
I'm going to work on turning my gaze back to Jesus, any time it gets pulled away... praying you can do the same, my friends!
Could this be the “Christ in us, the hope of glory” that Colossians 1:27 is talking about?
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! Psalm 139:7
Such an amazing truth!
And might I suggest that if you are ever feeling like you can’t find God, or see Him in your daily life, just look for any one of the Fruits of His Spirit! He is there! Jesus is alive and well on planet earth today through Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control…the Fruits of His Spirit!
There is only Christ. He is everything and he is in everything. Colossians 3:11
Yes! Jesus is in it ALL!
How? …through His Spirit!
You can see Him everywhere through the Fruits of His Spirit!
Did you see LOVE today? Then you saw Jesus!
How about PATIENCE? Did you see anyone practicing PATIENCE or did you practice it yourself? Then you saw Jesus!
And this time of year, I’m sure you are seeing and experiencing all kinds of GOODNESS! That’s Jesus!
And that’s why He came! To save the world and to live in us through the Fruits of His Holy Spirit!
May we always have eyes to see Him.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2
Renew my mind Lord.
Fill me with your PEACE.
Shower me with your LOVE.
Permeate me with your PATIENCE.
Saturate me with your JOY.
Envelope me with your KINDNESS.
Remind me of your GOODNESS and FAITHFULNESS.
Infuse me with your GENTLENESS.
Bless me with your SELF-CONTROL.
In the MIGHTY name of Jesus I pray. Amen!
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Meditating on this verse today and basking in the LOVE of God, that is always with me, if I only have eyes to see!
It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see. -Henry David Thoreau
Praying for eyes to see all the love, kindness and goodness there is all around us today.
When we see the image of God where we are not accustomed to seeing the image of God, then we see with eyes not our own. - Richard Rohr
I encourage you to take some time to look for the image of God today! Ask yourself, where did you see His image?
How do you gain (and maintain) an eternal perspective?
It’s all about where we are placing our focus; what we are choosing to SEE.
When we first believe, our lives are changed forever because we are invited into eternal life, the eternal Kingdom of Jesus! The day to day stress and life circumstances can sometimes make us lose sight of this, but we get the choice to focus on the truth once again every day.
So you see…It’s all Jesus! He’s everywhere! If you look, you will find Him. So be fully aware! - Karen Stacy
Praying you are seeing Jesus in ALL things, my friends!
If you need some help with that, grab a copy of SEEING Christmas to find out how!
Or get yourself some magnets and stickers to remind yourself and your loved ones to see, experience and practice the fruits of the Spirit every day!
